Samsung today posted a teaser page for the Galaxy Tab, a 7.0-inch Android-based tablet computer, which the company hopes will challenge the Apple iPad when it's released next week.
The South Korean company released a short video, showing a few features, including augmented reality, video calling and full Web browsing. In addition, it revealed that the device will run Google's latest Android 2.2 platform and support Adobe's Flash software.
Samsung said the tablet will be unveiled on September 2 in Germany at the IFA Berlin show.
The Galaxy Tab is one of the many devices that is attempting to grab a piece of the red-hot tablet market, which Apple currently dominates with the iPad. Rival Dell started selling the Streak, an Android-powered device, earlier this month. Other handset makers with Google tablets on the horizon include LG and Hewlett-Packard.
HTC is reportedly working on a tablet, but based on Google's Chrome operating system, to be released for Verizon around the holiday season. BlackBerry maker Research in Motion is designing a tablet using its proprietary software to keep from losing ground to Apple and Google.
