Coach Raheem Morris gave iPads to his 90-player team so they can watch game videos anywhere instead of being tethered to their home TVs.
The tablets are also useful for bringing to field practice, as normal playbooks weigh as much as phone books.
"It's crazy how much technology has changed the game," second-year safety Cody Grimm said. "Back in the day, I think probably the whole team had to sit down with a projector and a reel, and watch the film together. They'd have the whole offense in the same meeting room. Now we all have our own iPad."
Another advantage includes security, since players can lock the devices if anyone steals them and expose the team's strategy.
Morris, 34, came up with the idea to pass out iPads after he used his own to evaluate draft prospects. Now, the coach uses them to easily flip back and forth between relevant video clips.
"With this iPad, I can just flick through, and if that play doesn't apply to me, I just touch it and get out of there and go here, and there's third down," Morris said. "Get out of there, and let's go to the red zone. Okay, there's the nickel. It's a different deal now."
Morris isn't the only manager to dole out Apple's tablets. Last week, United Airlines bought 11,000 iPads for its pilots to use as supplemental flight manuals, shortly after the FAA approved Apple's tablets as safe additions to regular charts and maps.
Doctors, as well, are beginning to use tablets in their daily work. QuantiaMD found one-third of 4,000 surveyed physicians used mobile technology to diagnose and even communicate with patients.
As mobile technology and tablets especially become more popular, they will likely become an integral part of many such workplaces.
